When do I get discharged home?

Our team meets with every patient upon admission to determine a length of stay that is best suited for the patient. Our team wants to rehabilitate patients and residents as quickly and safely as possible, so they can return home or to another care setting. We will monitor to ensure that the proper course of treatment is being provided.

Are there social activities?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We have a full calendar of activities and social events for residents, including art classes, ice cream socials, bingo and game night, prayer service, movie night and guest speakers. In addition, we offer our residents the opportunity to embark on shopping excursions with our trained staff. Rest assured, your loved one will have countless opportunities to brighten their stay here with us at Downey Community Health Center.

How is privacy handled?

We strive to strike a balance between providing security and adequate supervision while respecting each person’s privacy. Common areas in the nursing facility tend to be open, while the patient rooms are considered private.

Will I have voice in my care plan?

Accepted Answer

Our team strives to maximize independence and honor patient preferences. It is a patient’s legal right to make choices about activities, schedules, healthcare and other aspects of their life. A resident council, which is a self-governed body in our nursing facility, provides an opportunity for residents to become actively involved in addressing their concerns to staff and to one another. When it comes to treatment decisions, some patients choose to shift decision-making responsibilities to their children or others.
