At Marycrest Manor, the spirit of Mother Luisita continues to guide all of us Carmelite Sisters as we strive to bring Christ’s loving presence to those we serve. Her example reminds us to approach each resident with tenderness, faith, and deep respect for the sacredness of their lives. Our residents are truly at the center of our mission. Their stories, their courage, and their simple daily moments inspire us to serve with gentleness and joy. It is a blessing and a grace to welcome each resident and family into our Marycrest community.

I’m new here at Marycrest, and I’m very pleased with the care I’ve received. From the moment I arrived, the staff has been wonderful—kind, attentive, and genuinely caring. I feel so welcomed and supported, which has made my transition here much easier. I also love the many activities Marycrest offers for us residents. There’s always something enjoyable to do, and it helps create a real sense of community.

I’ve been a CNA for six years, all of them here at Marycrest Manor. This is such a wonderful, peaceful community. I truly love caring for our residents—it’s especially meaningful to me because I wasn’t able to care for my own parents. Working here allows me to give the kind of care and compassion I wish I could have given them.

I truly feel at home here at Marycrest. Every day I wake up knowing I’m cared for, respected, and surrounded by kindness. It’s a peaceful place where I feel safe and valued. Thank God for Marycrest — being here feels like a blessing. I’m so grateful to be part of this community.

Marycrest is the most fabulous place on earth. I am so grateful for the wonderful care and attention my loved one receives here. Having worked in hospitals for over 40 years, I’ve seen many long-term care settings, and Marycrest truly stands above the rest. The staff is compassionate, attentive, and devoted to the residents’ well-being. Knowing he is in such capable and loving hands brings our family tremendous peace.

I really enjoy working here. I like taking care of the residents and spending time with them. Even just small moments, like sharing a smile or a little chat, make me feel connected and like I’m making a difference. It’s a nice feeling to know I can brighten their day in some way.

Marycrest Manor is a lovely place filled with truly lovely people. I couldn’t ask for better care for my husband—the staff is compassionate, attentive, and treats him with such dignity and respect. The setting here is beautiful, and we love spending time outdoors enjoying the peaceful scenery and wonderful weather. It feels like family here, and that means everything to us.

I work in Admissions at Marycrest Manor and love helping families as they navigate this important chapter in their loved ones’ lives. I enjoy showing them around our community, answering their questions, and making sure they feel supported and welcomed. It’s meaningful to me to provide guidance and reassurance, and to help families feel confident that their loved ones are in good hands.

The Carmelite Sisters lovingly provided our mother, Maria, with compassionate medical and spiritual care while at Marycrest Manor. The Sisters and their excellently trained medical staff directly tended to Maria hourly, assessing her medical needs, praying with her and for her, and comforting her during her debilitating and terminal neuro-degenerative disease. Most importantly, the environment provided Maria with dignity and the opportunity to meaningfully connect with others during her challenging journey. A touch of the hand, a small prayer during the day or in passing – it is the small things that can make a great difference in a patients’ day. My family took great comfort in and was greatly comforted by, the quality of medical care our mother received at Marycrest Manor. In Maria’s final days, the Sisters and medical staff always helped the family navigate the tough medical decisions and issues that often arise; at every step, we felt guided, supported, and well-led to make the best medical and spiritual decisions for our parent during her final days. The sisters stand, in loving joy, as a beacon of compassionate care to families in need; our family remains forever grateful for the privilege of having our mother in their care.

Marycrest Manor has been a godsend for my mother and our family. God was obviously scouting the best facility in Los Angeles for my Mom, who accidentally landed at Marycrest after falling down and breaking her hip at age 88. Doctors at another rehab facility deemed my Mom a “failure to thrive,” and sent her home in hospice unable to walk and in a state of dementia. But my Mom staged a miraculous recovery thanks to the sisters and loving caregivers at Marycrest. Though she still suffers from dementia and has never regained her ability to walk, our Mom is still with us, which is what matters the most! We are so grateful for the loving care of her many Marycrest caregivers, who treat my Mom with such dignity and respect. Our family is so thankful to the Carmelite Sisters for allowing my mother to live out her remaining years in peace at beautiful Marycrest, surrounded by the grace of the Lord and the sisters.

Over the course of being a physician for nearly 30 years, I truly value the collaboration of the interdisciplinary team, with each member from different disciplines coming together and working with a shared goal of helping patients live as long and as well as possible. This is what we have here at Marycrest where I am proud to be part of the team who sees their work as a mission to serve and seeing Christ in the patients under our care.
