Does insurance pay for caregiving services?

Caregiving services are required to be “non-medical“ therefore standard insurance carriers will not pay for care that is non-medical. Medicare covers “medical services“. Some individuals have long-term care insurance with benefits covering home care. We are a provider for most long-term care insurance companies and are glad to assist with the qualification process.

We are glad to discuss the caregiving costs and provide everything to you in writing. We do not post the rates on our website as pricing and individual circumstances can vary. Modifying the website can be timely and costly. We hope to bring you peace of mind that you/your loved one will be professionally and compassionately cared for and that peace of mind will far surpass in value the costs of care we provide.

Are there other options to pay for caregiving services?

Accepted Answer

Most caregiving services are paid privately (out-of-pocket). There are county programs and government grants that sometimes subsidize care & costs (i.e. ICRC and IHSS). We are glad to point you to some of those services that will be available based on your eligibility as well as coach you on Veterans benefits, Long-term Care Insurance eligibility. We are glad to discuss these and other options with you.

Can I meet my caregiver in advance?

We like to introduce caregivers in advance when possible. An introduction will allow us to discuss your specific care needs and expectations as well as make a smooth start for us as we begin care care.

Are there minimum hours per visit and/or minimum days per week?

Accepted Answer

We have a three hour minimum per visit. While some caregivers like working short shifts, there are others that prefer to work longer hours. Our job is to match the right caregiver to your schedule. We share your goal of having strong accountability as well as great continuity of care by having as few caregivers as possible in your home.

Is my caregiver background checked? Bonded? Employed by the agency?

The answer to each of these questions is: Yes! Each caregiver is Live Scan fingerprinted, background checked, cleared for employment by the DOJ and register with the CA Department of Social Services; each caregiver is bonded; each caregiver is employed by Senior Home Caregivers, Inc.

Are there extra costs to consider?

Our pricing covers all caregiving duties except mileage and working on holidays. Caregivers often drive their personal vehicles on the clients behalf. When this is done, the IRS mileage is charged to the client and reimbursed to the caregiver. When a caregiver works on a company holiday, those days are billed and paid at time and a half.

We do have caregivers that speak other languages. Let us know which language is of interest and we will let you know if we can accommodate a specific request.

Can I cancel care if my health improves?

Accepted Answer

Yes! You just need to call us to cancel care. We request a 24 hour notice prior to the cancellation to give adequate notice to your caregiver.

What services can a caregiver provide?

Caregivers often assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, hygiene, cooking, housekeeping, laundry, pet care, medication, reminders, companionship, driving to appointments, shopping, and more non-medical service.
