We have a variety of individual and social activities scheduled throughout the day, tailored to the specific needs of each resident. Group activities include Music and Memory, Joyful Hearts chorus, art, crafts, painting, cooking, excursions, pet therapy, gardening, walks, live performances and more.

Do Summer House residents have access to the entire Villa Gardens campus?

Accepted Answer

Yes, Summer House residents are welcome to visit any common area on the greater Villa Gardens campus as long as they are escorted. Summer House residents can have lunch with family in our main dining room and take walks around the garden areas. Residents can also have their hair cut or styled at our on-site salon.

Can family members visit Summer House residents whenever they wish? And can family members take residents out of Summer House?

Yes, family members may visit Summer House whenever they wish, and they may escort residents out of Summer House, provided staff has been notified. We recommend doing so between breakfast and 9:00 p.m. Visiting families can spend time in the gardens, take up a craft project, play games, do puzzles, join in the chorus, and more.

Does Summer House staff check on residents on a regular basis?

Yes, residents are monitored 24 hours a day by staff using the latest technology. All common areas at Summer House are equipped with delayed-egress doors with sensors. Staff also performs personal wellness checks on a frequent basis.

Yes, our staff training meets the Department of Social Services requirements in Alzheimer’s care and dementia care. Staff also receives additional, on-going training in understanding the disease process. Training extends to all aspects of care: encouraging participation, leading engaging activities, assisting with personal care and dining, maintaining a clean and welcoming environment, and providing cueing and assistance with activities of daily living.
